Since 1990, the National Kidney Foundation has organized the U.S. Transplant Games and managed the U.S. Teams participating in the World Summer and Winter Transplant Games. These events demonstrate the tremendous success of transplantation and honor the thousands of selfless acts of love from donors all over the world. Most importantly, they serve to encourage more organ donation, which can give the “gift of life” to many of the 90,000 people in the U.S. who are in need of a life-saving organ transplant.
